International Cub

In the Bible versus the Quran: One Cub became a Strong Lion

According to Ezekiel 19:3, the Bible mentions a horrible story; a woman cooked her son and ate him. When the king heard such a he tore his robes.

The Bible talks about a lioness mother; she brought up one of her cubs, he became a strong lion. He learned to tear the prey, and he ate people.

This lioness mother is the mother of the princes of Israel or the mother of the leaders of Israel. This lioness mother and her cub are not found in the Quran.

Cannibalism in the Bible (5):

Ezekiel 19:3

New International Version

She brought up one of her cubs, and he became a strong lion. He learned to tear the prey and he devoured men.

New American Standard Bible

When she brought up one of her cubs, He became a lion, and he learned to tear his prey; He devoured men.

English Standard Version

And she brought up one of her cubs; he became a young lion, and he learned to catch prey; he devoured men.

King James Version

And she brought up one of her whelps: it became a young lion, and it learned to catch the prey; it devoured men.

The Message

She reared one of her cubs to maturity, a robust young lion. He learned to hunt. He ate men.

New Century Version

When she brought up one of her cubs, he became a strong lion. He learned to tear the animals he hunted, and he ate people.

Contemporary English Version

She taught one of them to hunt, and he learned to eat people.

———-

The phrase “he devoured men” is translated as “he ate people” in the following versions of the Bible:

The Message

New Century Version

Contemporary English Version

This is the correct translation according to the Hebrew verse.

It should be emphasized that the Arabic translation of the verse is correct too.

———-

Who is she in Ezekiel 19:3?

She in this verse stands for a mother

She is a lioness mother

She is a female lion mother

She is mother of whom?

She is the mother of the princes of Israel.

She is the mother of the leaders of Israel.

Ezekiel 19:6

New International Version

He prowled among the lions, for he was now a strong lion. He learned to tear the prey and he devoured men (he ate people).

New American Standard Bible

And he walked about among the lions; He became a young lion, He learned to tear his prey; He devoured men (he ate people).

English Standard Version

He prowled among the lions; he became a young lion, and he learned to catch prey; he devoured men (he ate people).

King James Version

And he went up and down among the lions, he became a young lion, and learned to catch the prey, and devoured men (he ate people).

Again, in the following versions of the Bible:

The Message

New Century Version

Contemporary English Version

The phrase “he devoured men” is translated as “he ate people”.

This is the correct translation according to the Hebrew verse.

It should be emphasized that the Arabic translation of the verse is correct too.

Back to my question to the smart and interested reader:

Is the Quran quoted from the Bible?
